NINAKURU Panama hats are meticulously hand-woven in the Andean highlands of South America by a women’s fair trade cooperative, ensuring weavers receive dignified wages, health benefits, and educational assistance for their children.
Each hat takes approximately 5-7 days to weave and are then shipped to our workshop in Ojai, California where we adorn each hat with its finishing touches.
The edge of our brims always has the straw woven back into the brim, an important and signature feature of an authentic Panama hat. Genuine Panama hats are never cut or sewn by machine, which is why you may encounter slight imperfections in brim shape. We consider these imperfections stamps of authenticity.
